Background: The Bureau of Land Management plans to open over 600,000 acres of public lands in California to new oil and gas drilling, with the draft Environmental Impact Report expected soon.
The most important action we can take is to organize ourselves as health professionals, and concerned Californians to speak up against this effort by submitting comments on the report documenting the litany of environmental and health harms of expanded drilling during the comment window.
What we’re doing: We are recruiting Climate Health Now member leads from each of the 16 impacted counties (right). Leads will be supported to help activate Climate Health Now members in their region. Interested in becoming a lead? Please email connect@climatehealthnow.org for more information.
